Quality & Warranty
Lannah Dunn Fine Jewellery is committed to the highest standards of precious materials, craftsmanship and presentation.
Jewels from the LD Moderne Collection are crafted and inspected to stringent quality standards before being offered for sale. Pieces within the Lannah Dunn Antique and Vintage Collection are carefully assessed by the Lannah Dunn expert workshop and must meet our internal criteria for authenticity, beauty and workmanship.
Lannah Dunn will, at its discretion, repair or replace jewellery that, in its opinion, displays a manufacturing defect within 12 months of the date of purchase.
This warranty does not apply where a jewellery item has been altered, repaired or modified by another jeweller, as Lannah Dunn cannot control or assume responsibility for work undertaken by third parties.
Many pieces within the collection include antique jewellery, coloured gemstones and organic gems which, by their nature, may be delicate and best suited to occasional or dress wear rather than daily wear.
The following circumstances are considered normal wear or accidental damage and are not manufacturing defects:
-
accidental breakage
-
lost gemstones
-
exposure to water, perfume or chemicals
-
allergic reactions or changes in metal appearance
-
jewellery requiring restringing
-
wear and tear from normal use or mishandling
Where damage occurs outside warranty conditions, the Lannah Dunn workshop may still be able to assist with repair or restoration, with quotations provided where applicable.
These warranty terms operate alongside your rights under Australian Consumer Law, which remain unaffected.
For guidance on preserving your jewellery, please refer to the Lannah Dunn Jewellery Care Guide.
Metal Stamps & Hallmarks
Precious metal jewellery commonly includes metal stamps or hallmarks identifying the composition of the piece. These marks may appear as numbers, letters or symbols discreetly engraved on the jewel.
Common examples include:
18ct gold – 750, 18ct, 18kt, 18K
9ct gold – 375, 9ct, 9kt, 9K
Sterling silver – 925, SIL, SILVER
Platinum – PT, 950, 960, PLAT
All modern jewellery from the Lannah Dunn collections carries a metal stamp confirming the precious metal used, providing confidence in the authenticity and quality of the materials.
Some pieces may also include additional marks, such as brand identifiers, maker’s marks, country hallmarks or model numbers.
Antique and vintage jewellery may carry historic hallmarks which assist in identifying the age, origin and metal contentof a piece. Where antique jewellery is unmarked, Lannah Dunn may undertake metal testing to confirm composition.
Historic hallmarks — particularly those found on French and European antique jewellery — can be extremely subtle. Inexperienced polishing or repair work may inadvertently remove these marks. For this reason, antique pieces are best serviced by specialist jewellers familiar with historic hallmarks.
Important Client Information
Natural Gemstones
Natural gemstones are formed by nature and may display unique characteristics such as inclusions, variations in tone or internal features. These natural characteristics are not imperfections but form part of the individuality and beauty of each stone.
Images on this website are carefully prepared to represent each jewel as accurately as possible, however slight variations in colour or appearance may occur due to photography, lighting conditions and screen display settings.
Gemstone Weights & Measurements
Where gemstone weights, dimensions or measurements are stated, these figures are approximate values.
Due to traditional jewellery manufacturing methods and the nature of gemstone setting, small variations may occur between stated and actual measurements. Where total gemstone weight is quoted, this may represent the combined approximate weight of multiple stones.
Such variations fall within normal jewellery manufacturing tolerances and do not affect the quality or value of the piece.
Antique Jewellery
Many jewels within the Lannah Dunn collection were crafted in earlier eras and may display subtle signs of age or historic craftsmanship consistent with their period of origin.
These characteristics form part of the authenticity and history of antique jewellery and should not be considered faults.
All antique pieces are carefully assessed by the Lannah Dunn expert workshop prior to being offered for sale.
